A Type of Adventure is a 2D side-scrolling puzzle game where players use typing mechanics to help a character chase their dream of an epic adventure.
This project was made as part of the Video Games and Multimedia Applications Workshop classes of my university degree and came from a proposal from a classmate to make a game to around typing mechanics. The idea was to have player type to progress in the game.
The main challenges were finding a way to design combat using typing mechanics. It was also a challenge to elevate that combat mechanic in boss fights.
We decided to have the player type certain words to either dodge or attack. During boss fights, the words are more complicated some are even letters in a random order.
